In the beginning WebTerritory has always been a Canadian owned and operated business. However, had to use US based services and because those services were US, had to charge in US dollars.
Then some US based companies started setting up servers/services in Canada, so WebTerritory moved itself and its clients to the Canadian servers. Despite having our services on Canadian servers, still being charged in US dollars (the currency of the internet they said).
As mentioned in the previous post, WebTerritory had to phase out its hosting services as WebTerritory could not compete with the larger/cheaper hosting companies that started flooding the market. Also, recommended to its clients the Canadian servers, however, that are run by an American company.
Now, finally there are a couple of Canadian owned and operated web hosting companies that are now reasonably priced and offer competitive services. WebTerritory has now migrated all of its sites to Canadian servers operated by Canadian owned and operated companies!
Currently, as domains under WebTerritory come up for renewal, they are being transferred to a Canadian domain registrar. As of February 2026, EVERYTHING will be on 100% Canadian services. That means that WebTerritory will be charged in Canadian dollars and WebTerritory can start charging its clients in Canadian dollars.
Will it lower pricing, unfortunately, probably not with all the shenanigans going on in the US, global economy, and in Canada. However, WebTerritory will do its best to keep pricing reasonable without losing money. At first it will look like prices have jumped considerably, however, remember that the old prices are US dollars and the new prices are Canadian dollars.
Also, WebTerritory will be moving away from PayPal and starting to use e-transfers over email (still have to figure out subscription billing/services). As for WebTerritory US clients, this move will require a Canadian account at a Canadian financial institution as Interact e-transfers are currently a Canadian only thing.
The Canadian pricing and billing conversion will likely be ready around the new year. Thanks to all that are still with WebTerritory.
